So today I woke up SO GOSH DARN EXCITED because the door installers were coming midday to replace our ugly, drafty, flimsy, excessively secured, 1960s patio door with a new Colonial style, paned, low E, sound reducing, gorgeous, and perfect French door.  I even had the luck to work from home today to oversee the install!

The installers arrived an hour early and got right to work measuring the opening and door, and then taking off the inner door casing.  And re-measuring the opening.  And re-measuring the door.  And again.  And again.  THE DOOR WAS THE WRONG SIZE!  The manufacturers apparently custom built a door that was 1/4″ too wide and 2 1/2″ too tall for our “real masonry opening” that couldn’t be modified.  What was on my order form from Home Depot was clearly not the door sitting outside.

The installers just left to return the door to Home Depot and have a word with them.  And here I sit dejected and totally bummed out.  Hopefully we can work out a deal to get it rush ordered for free so we don’t have to wait yet another month to replace our backyard eyesore…  (Oh wait…our backyard is the biggest eyesore…until next week when the landscapers come to do a little planting!)
